Angels We Have Heard On High

Every year for close to 40 years I have held a Winter Solstice party. At this year’s party, the house band did a version of Angels We Have Heard On High that was really quite ska like and bouncy. So for the past couple of days we’ve been recording and here it is! That’s Me on Vocals and Guitar, Hugh McMillan on bass, keyboard, guitar and vocals–Kelly Hood on uillean pipes–Dave Hebert on Djembe– Miriam Keyes, Joel Leblanc  and Miche Callaghan on background vocals.

  1. Very beautiful, nice take on a classical Christmas carol.

    • Tahnks Irene! Merry Christmas!

  2. lovely take! I love the pipes at the end especially.

    • Me too! Kelly is quite a player! Merry Christmas!

  6. James, this is wonderful! I love it! And what a great ode to the folk tradition: Canadian musicians, using Irish bagpipes and an African drum, to play a Caribbean-sounding arrangement of a French Christmas carol…now, how cool is that!

You really need to consider doing a Christmas album…I think it would be superb! Thanks again for sharing this with us! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! 🙂
