Hugh’s Room, November 16, 2013. It’s the second night of the Stan Rogers tribute at Hugh’s Room, the legendary Acoustic room in Toronto. I caught Evalyn Parry at a reflective point in the song 45 Years. Tom Leighton is at the keyboard and Stan’s son, Nathan Rogers, is lost in thought, leaning on the piano.
The show last night was great because people stretched the material. Songs sung acapella that were recorded with full band. Songs accompanied by Shruti boxes, songs for voice and piano.
Nathan sang a particularly great, tear inducing version of Flowers of Bermuda.
