A gig! This Saturday, July 10th at the bandstand in Perth, Ontario( right behind the Town Hall) from 1-4 pm Hugh McMillan and I will be playing, life-like and natural! Can’t wait!

It’s Canada Day. I have always blessed the fact

It’s Canada Day. I have always blessed the fact that my parents settled here, out of all the places they could have settled. I love the ground on which I walk, glad I was born under these skies in this landscape. But since the time that I first started to learn about the experiences of the First Nations in this, their land, I have never been under the illusion that we live in the “ best country” in the world. I love this country while acknowledging its sins. So today is about trying to figure out how I am going to work to make us live up to being the people we think we should be. How to work to make this country fair, just and equitable. How to listen. I will think on the incomparable beauty of the land of the Tsuu T’ina, Nakoda and Siksika nations that is so much a part of my heart and soul. And I will mourn for all the children who died far from their homes.
